Aptera electric car (Gizmodo). Do startups in Japan lack access to viable solutions for small-lot production that are available to their US counterparts, hence the lack of any Japan-designed electric vehicles that look set for a near-term commercial launch without a Toyota badge? Or are they cowed by the dominance of the big automakers (both in general and in eco-cars), whereas the US offers more niches to aim at?
