And “into foreign customs” sounds like a comment one might make about a chap wearing an out-of-context kaftan. “Oh, Jerry? He’s ~.”

“Mouthfeel” is another. Has a clammy, groping, sexual quality.

Parcel-tracking sites have some odd word choices. “Acceptance” is what follows anger and denial when one is terminally ill, surely.

“Locavore” is my most hated neologism in a long time.

Fascinating, if slightly roughly written discussion of why European and US companies function despite the fact that employees don’t work overtime and are free to take vacations, while Japanese firms force workers to put in extra hours for free and have a culture that frowns on holidays. (Spoiler: it’s down to unrealistic demand expectations set by Japan’s corporate managers, and a focus on serving the nitpicking 1% of the customer base instead of the 99% with more normal expectations. The resulting gap has to be bridged, in effect, by unpaid work.) (Hat tip to @sarasa: https://twitter.com/sarasa/status/21459514184)

Saw a set of co. principles—すぐやる、必ずやる、出来るまでやる—trans. as “Do it now! Do it without fail! Do it until completed!” A bit prison-camp, guys.

Looking at weathernews’ hour-by-hour forecast, it looks like the temperature won’t go below 29 degrees in the next 24+ hours. Help.
